My First Weblog
After a conversation about old, embarassing diaries, I was compelled to search out my old Xanga. It was indeed embarassing, but also really fun to read. I could do without some of the whiny entries from my freshman year at Mizzou, but the chronicle of my senior year at Benet, almost from start to finish, has been a blast to revisit. I was so incredibly happy in every single entry, with every...

What a perfect last day in the city I am proud to call home, with family and friends I am blessed to call my own. Driving home along LSD on a crystal clear night was the cherry on top. How lucky am I that even though I’m a little sad to leave home (let’s face it, I mean my mom), I am just as thrilled to return to my new city and new life? Unbelievably.

After a particularly fun Wednesday evening, I felt the urge to send my newly-phone-savvy mom a text message. It was midnight, so I knew she would be tucked in bed with her phone a full floor below her in her purse, and assumed she would get the message in the morning. I was shocked when my mom replied instantly. Was it possible that she had gone from just learning to text to keeping her phone...

Twenty years ago today my life changed forever. At five years old, whether I realized it or not, I learned the value of life, the importance of cherishing and maximizing every single one of its moments. I am forever grateful for that awareness, for family and friends who continually remind me of its importance, and for an upbringing that allowed me to put that knowledge to practice. I am...

What I learned at the Fed
Yesterday I was lucky enough to attend a conference titled Small Business and Entrepreneurship During an Economic Recovery at the Federal Reserve Board. While there was far too many interesting discussions to adequately summarize here, these are some of my take aways from the event: The importance of entrepreneurs and of new business can not be overstated in terms of our economic recovery. I am...

A Place to Call Home
As I (finally) get myself settled in my new home in my new city, I am overcome with excitement for the future, but also happiness and gratitude for all of the preceding chapters in my life - all of my prior homes. I am biased, of course, but I am hard pressed to imagine a warmer, more inviting house or home than the one that I was raised in. Growing up in that environment prepared me to go on to...

Vaccine-wary parents guarded over new pitch to... →
I 100% understand parents and other individuals being wary of new vaccinations and certain medications in general. I even try to avoid them whenever possible. Especially ever since I contracted the chicken pox at 18 and realized THAT vaccination didn’t quite work out. So, if a parent were to say, I’m not going to have my child receive the Gardasil vaccination because it’s just...

Okay, really. Third time's a charm.
Now that I have officially decided to make the switch back to the world of agency PR - a switch I am very much looking forward to - I’ve decided to truly recommit to this, my vehicle of communication. As I wrap up my final days at Playboy and prepare for my return to GolinHarris, I will do my best to record my musings, many of which will likely the follow the “I bet I won’t be...

Work in Progress
There’s a good chance the title of this blog will change a lot over the next couple of days. I’m trying some on for size. Literally - I can’t change the size of the logo at top so my title needs to fit inside it nicely. And be awesome. Bunny puns, anyone?

I Tweet For Work
One week down and I don’t think I could be happier with my job. I kept busy the whole week and learned a ton of stuff along the way. Turns out you learn a lot more at a job than you do in school. Who would’ve guessed? Each day I realize more and more why this is something I really want to do, and somewhere I really want to work. Two examples: Wednesday we learned how to track social...

Golin Harris Day 1
So today was my long awaited entry into the almost-real world. And it was really great. Most of the day was spent in orientation, learning about the company, the internship program etc. In the afternoon I met my advisor who I could not be happier about. She seems totally on the level, and made me feel extremely welcome. She had a bunch of stuff put together for me about our clients and took a lot...

Christmas with Molly
Thanks to Molly for a great gathering of friends. And thanks to Fender for the Bailey’s. Nothing compares. I can’t believe how close Christmas actually is. I’ve hardly had time to enjoy the season. Though all the Home Alone certainly helped. And the This Christmas - an instant holiday classic! I haven’t even seen the whole thing yet and it’s already got a permanent...
